The Graphic Mac

It’s been several years since I moved the original Creative Guy blog from WordPress to Drupal; renaming it The Graphic Mac in the process. While Drupal served it’s purpose, I just never was able to “simplify” the site design and layout. Today marks The Graphic Mac’s return to WordPress. I hope you find the new design more pleasing to the eye.

Why?

One of the reasons I made the switch was so that I could focus more on the content, and much less on actually getting the content posted; as well as making the site something I actually enjoyed looking at. The new design isn’t going to win me any awards, but it definitely puts more focus on the content. Gone are the seldom used features from the old site, such as dedicated discussion forums. The forums never really caught on, instead I was fielding dozens of emails a day from readers. At first I felt bothered by the fact that people weren’t using the forums. But after a while, I began to appreciate the one-on-one interaction with readers. The contact form is up at the top, and I welcome the emails!

What’s new?

Though the Web Links section in the sidebar is currently not working, I hope that once it’s up and running (soon), you will populate it with links to great Mac, Adobe, and design resources from all over the Web.

The Graphic Mac’s RSS Feed URL has changed! Please update your RSS Feed to the new address so you don’t miss anything.

I’ve added links to my Facebook and Twitter pages. Please feel free to add me, and let me know you’re a Graphic Mac reader. The Graphic MacAll the old posts, with the exception of a few irrelevant announcement posts, from the old site are still here. Many of the old posts don’t look like they “fit” in the new layout, but I decided that it was more important to get them all in, rather than spend an enormous amount of time creating and uploading new artwork to fit the new layout. New posts should look much cleaner in the new layout. As far as new content goes, I’m finally in a position to increase the frequency of new posts. That is, after all, why you came here. I apologize for the slim-pickens the last few months, “life” happened. The site also features Gravatar support in the comments – which if nothing else adds a little personality to the comment area of each post.

Other Stuff

I encourage you to leave comments on articles. To discourage spam, I’m requiring you to register in order to comment. When you register, please use your real name. We all would rather converse with “DaveB” than “d12.mad.45-Dude.” I’ll probably turn that requirement off soon and allow anonymous comments. I’ll be making a few adjustments to the site over the coming weeks, so don’t be surprised to see subtle changes to typography and colors.

Thank You!

Thanks to everyone who offered support, sent me software announcements and article ideas, clicked an ad in the sidebar, or simply sent an email to say thanks for the site. You guys are the reason this site exists!
