Black and White Photoshop Action

There are lots of ways to convert a color image to black & white in Adobe Photoshop, but here’s a simple little Action you can apply to your color image to give you a rich, detailed conversion result. As you can see in the image above, the standard grayscale conversion results in a rather flat looking image. But using the Black and White Action, the photo is enhanced with deeper tones and more contrast, offering a more dramatic end result.

Vandelay Design has made available a fantastic Photoshop action to easily create stunning 3D from your Photoshop text and objects. As you can see in the image above, the results are pretty darn good for what started as some plain green text.

Universal Type Server 4 delivers brand new auto-activation plug-ins for Adobe Creative Cloud applications, including InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator and InCopy. If you work in small groups or at a large agency, you’ll find UTS a great server-side font manager.

Alien Skin has announced the upcoming release of Snap Art version 4. Snap Art is their natural media application for photographers and artists. It works with Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Lightroom, Apple Aperture, and is also a stand-alone application. Snap Art 4 will cost $99, with upgrades for $69.

Quickly access Open dialog box in Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign

If you want to spare every key click you possibly can, you can quickly access the Open Dialog Box in Adobe Photoshop, InDesign and Illustrator with nothing but your mouse – and you don’t even have to make a trip to the File menu!

With no documents open, simply double-click an empty space in the Application Frame (the space normally taken up by a document window. The catch of course, is that you have to have the Application Frame active and no document open.
