Patently Apple reports on recent Apple patent filings that indicate Apple is working on a graphics application with a new fancy-pants GUI. Now I don’t doubt that Apple is (or was) working on a graphics package. But I HIGHLY doubt that this graphics app was meant to compete with Photoshop – unless you feel like iWork actually competes with MS Office. That being said, a fourth app added to iWork would be nice, no?

Apparently, quite a few people. It is still the only legally approved method of transmitting documents for many companies. I know very few companies that have an actual fax machine, and the ones I do know of generally end up scanning the fax and saving it as a PDF. So why not skip the expensive and messy middle step.
HelloFax makes it easy to sign documents and send faxes online. You’ll never need to print, sign and scan documents again. HelloFax also integrates with Google Drive, for those with a Gmail account.
Google’s Chrome browser has been updated to take advantage of Retina MacBook Pros. But the more interesting thing is that Chrome can now access your Mac’s camera and microphone natively. Previously, only plugins like Flash were able to do it. I’m not sure this is the best thing for user security, but it’s one more step in a Flash-free world.
If you just bought a new Retina MacBook Pro or MacBook Air and you’re experiencing crashes in Adobe InDesign, here’s a temporary fix until Apple & Adobe completely fix the issue.
Apple is about to ship it’s 65th release of Mac OS X – counting all the minor updates. The Robservatory has a table showing all major releases of OS X from the public beta through the latest public version. Completely useless, but fun to look back on.
Really nice handwritten script fonts are hard to come by, so I was excited to find Rickman Script over at DeviantArt. Unfortunately, the font is only free for personal use, but a commercial license is available.
While I was searching for images for a project, I came across Photos Public Domain, which offers images of various quality with a decent range of subject matter. The site doesn’t have thousands upon thousands of images, but there are quite a few gems. The best part is they are, as the name implies, public domain, and free for commercial use. Donations are accepted of course, but not necessary. I particularly liked the holiday collection.
