If you haven’t looked in your Mac OS X Dock preferences since upgrading to Snow Leopard, you may have missed a handy little preference that will save you space in your Dock when you minimize windows. Neat-freaks read on… Open your Dock prefs and click the first check box labeled “Minimize windows into application icon.” Now, when you minimize a window, rather than clogging up your Dock with tiny little windows, the windows will slide behind their appropriate application icon in the Dock, neatly tucked away until you’re ready to view or open one. You can view all the minimized windows of an app simply by clicking and holding the mouse button on the app icon in the dock. All the minimized windows of that app will appear neatly across the bottom of the screen. To activate the window you want, simply move your mouse (while still holding the button down) over the window and let go. The window pops open. Very handy for neat-freaks like me!
