When Apple released the new version of iWork, people immediately noticed the new icons, new interface, and the features that Apple inexplicably removed from previous versions. What most people didn’t notice is that Apple has a completely new file format. Drew McCormack offers his opinion on why Apple chose to change the iWork file format.
I tend to agree with him. Apple didn’t change the format just to be a stick in the mud.
That would be very, VERY nice. But as the article points out, new hires generally come on board at the start of the project, so it could be another year or two before we see the results.
If you use Apple’s iWork suite, Keynote, Pages and/or Numbers, you may find yourself searching for some new artwork to add a little spiff to your presentations, documents and spreadsheets. Before you speed off to Google to search for more, I’ve got a quick stop for you to make that may save you the trouble.

Having used Microsoft Office for many years, despite my utter disdain for it, nobody was happier than me when Apple launched the iWork applications.
