Export from Illustrator as PNG file.

With multiple art boards in Illustrator Cs4,3 different art boards each a different size. When exporting these as PNG files the art boards change size to becomes smaller or larger than image on it - this is a frustrating issue as it's not an consistant occurance. Could this be a glitch in the application or hardware?

It sounds to me that it's doing exactly what it should be doing. If your artboards are different sizes, then the resulting exports should be as well.

It doesn't sound to be a glitch in the software, and it's certainly not a hardware issue.

Maybe I'm not understanding the problem you're having.

Draw a box around the area you want to export, then select that box and go to menu "Object" and select "Create crop marks". Your .png export will be the size you want.
