Just a quick note to let you know that a few handy Adobe InDesign plugins have been updated to work with InDesign CS4.
Markzware has updated Q2ID, a plugin which provides a quick, easy and affordable method for you to migrate all your QuarkXPress content into a new Adobe InDesign document. The conversion is enabled with a single click using InDesign File->Open. Q2ID will convert Quark XPress version 3-8 files to InDesign CS3 and CS4.
I've used this plugin many times and found it to be incredibly useful if you have large amounts of Quark files you want to work with in Adobe InDesign. In my case, Depending on the size of the job, it can pay for itself with one use. It's very accurate in its conversion of your files - I rarely had to make any adjustments at all on converted files.
Rorohiko has updated two useful InDesign plugins recently. Lightning Brain Text Exporter takes InDesign's text export feature a step further by allowing you to export ALL the stories in your document into one text file, not just one at a time.
Also from Rorohiko, Color2Gray allows you to convert placed color photos to grayscale without modifying the original color image. When outputting in CMYK, the gray image will only render on the black (K) plate. This is a real time-saver for quick turn-around times.
while i love the Q2ID
Mon, 12/08/2008 - 18:29 — gwellswhile i love the Q2ID plugin, i *DON'T* love the $99 upgrade price. it's half the cost of buying it new, seems a bit steep for a version change.
at that price, i'll leave CS2 installed if i ever need to convert again. hopefully i've converted everything i need by now.
