Purposes of PDF/X

Hi all,

Whether we have to create PDF with PDF/X in application (InDesign, etc...) itself or else in the Acrobat Professional. Can you please explain the process. If i choose PDF/X-1a or PDF/X-3 in Indesign the compatibility is in Acrobat 4(PDF 1.3). It is correct or not. Please suggest.

First, take a look at this article I posted a while back. It explains all the PDF formats available.

In short, the PDF/X-1a format is the best format for compatibility because it "dumbs down" everything. It flattens all the transparency, embeds all the fonts, and only contains CMYK and Spot colors. For these reasons, it's perfect for sending to magazines, newspapers and printers.
